With the unique Original Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker - Ice Cream Ball, you can make homemade ice cream anywhere!

With the Play and Freeze Ice Cream Ball, you don't need electricity, just add ice and rock salt in one end and ice cream mix in the other end-then have a ball as you shake it, pass it or roll it! The ice cream mix can be as simple as cream, sugar and vanilla. Try flavors from our recipe list included or make up your own with Flavor Fountain Ice Cream Flavoring. The Ice Cream Ball is made of durable polycarbonate, it's lightweight, portable and easy to clean. For the larger version of the original ball, try the MEGA Ice Cream Ball - It makes 1 pint of ice cream.

  • How to use your Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker

    1. Pack the non-metal end of the Ice Cream Ball with ice. Then pour in 1/2 cup of rock salt. Close with lid and tighten by hand. Don't use the included wrench for this.
      2. Combine and mix the ice cream ingredients together in a separate container. In the opposite end of the ice and rock salt opening, pour the ice cream mixture into the metal cylinder opening. Leave about 1 inch of room. Close the lid and hand tighten.
      3. Now have some fun! Put the Play and Freeze in motion. Shake it, roll it and pass it around. This action will cause the mixture to combine and freeze.
      4. After 10 minutes, use the plastic wrench to open the ice cream end. Using a wooden or plastic spoon, scrape the side walls of the cylinder to stir up the ice cream. Do not use a metal spoon to avoid scratching the cylinder. Close the lid. Pour out any excess water from the ice and salt end. Add more ice and another 1/3 cup of salt to increase the freezing process. Close the lid. Continue rolling and passing the Play and Freeze around for another 5-10 minutes.
      5. That's it! You have just made about a pint of delicious homemade ice cream. Gently scoop it out and enjoy with everyone. Depending on the outside temperature, amount of rolling and motion, the mix and ice, consistency will vary. Experiment a little until you've made the ice cream exactly the way you like.
